Sometimes you have to push yourself that extra little further down the rabbit hole in order to get something that pushes past the regular work. Creating an image of over 21 frames in order to create this HDR Panorama is the beginning of a new process I have picked up. Of course not all my Images are going to be like this, but they will be coming more often.
I remember when I had first tried an HDR Pano in the parking lot somewhere in Toronto. It started the works of all my panoramas. every one has a very similar edit, and size. Consistency is a great thing, but sometimes that box is meant to be jumped out of.
The new Generation of HDR has pushed the pixels past the norm, and in some cases, into a dream world. Not unlike that of paintings. HDR is the digital gateway to create a scenery the way a person can remember it. Look back at images from 10 years ago and tell me if that photograph does justice to the memory you have of that moment in time. it is possible, but doubtful. HDR is definately a possible solution to this situation.

No push = flat. average image.

HDR push = what our minds want to remember the situation/ picture as.

HDR overpush = high contrast, almost dream state style.

Panorama = non traditional, long format sizing.

Most point and shoot cameras shoot in 5/7 (5x7 inch or 8x10 inch print)

Other cameras such as the 23mm CCD sensors in DSLR cameras (and even a few PnS cams) in 2/3 (4x6 inch or 8x12 inch prints).

Panorama seems to fit 2/4. at least mine do. This means that the image is exactly 2 times longer than it is tall. Or vise verse.
I chose the 2/4 ratio for a specific reason. If you use the rule of thirds, this ratio fits closely.

If you put 3 8x12 prints together, side by side... the dimensions would be:
[12 x (8x3=)24]
12x24 shortened is 2x4.

Although I find it possible to go into the overpush state, I prefer not to. I want to create images that spark memory in people, not create an imaginary situation.

Yet.

Salsa!

The 2nd Annual Salsa weekend went off well in the Village this year, and these are some of the images that I attained form that day. The higher up images were taken from the fourth floor of the wieder lodge (i think it was that one). Enjoy!

Vanderwal Family

Sometimes family portraits are beter left to the more candid side of things. this is a great example :)
