Family and Friends

No, this is not my family, but they are definitely friends now.
Family portraits are fun, but more fun when everyone is in high spirits at 2 am :)
The kids were great with the camera too!

Short walk, Long talk. :)

Got out of the house for one of the last sunsets I might see this summer. I was taken hostage by my friend Jess, and headed towards sunset point in Collingwood. I brought the camera just in case. had a coffee and mingled about the last decade that we needed to catch up on. the sunset was so nice :) so, I decided to try and shoot a pano, without a tripod, in fading light. I didn't think that after the time spent on the image, that it would turn out like this. I'm happy with it :)
the negative space from the dark shadows causes a natural vignette, the colors fading from bright to dark from left to right keeps the eye headed towards the suns soon to be gone light. When I shoot the landscapes around me, I keep thinking of Justin Russo, from College. His landscapes are always great :)
You can see some of his work here :

Dodger again :)

(click on it...)

Just recently, I got the privilege to get to the Dodger CD Release party in Toronto.
I have to say that every time I have gone to The Sound Academy, I have had a blast. This night follows suit quite well. The unfortunate part was that by the time I arrived, The Salads were already almost done their set. Total downer to not snag some images of 'em, but shit happens. Chatted it up with some friends, dropped of some previous shoots (on DVD) for Dodger, and was now ready to shoot again.

It feels odd to have a photo session in this type of environment without having some beverages to cool the nerves. I see it as a party situation, so I would prefer to have a party type of mind.

Only suiting :)

Anywho, Since the security was being stubborn, I wasn't allowed into the ditch (in between the crowd and the band stage), Stu from dodger passed me his pass so I could get onto stage. Thank you, by the way haha.

I think the shots were good, but one image in particular turned out nicely. It came from putting together a panoramic, while standing at the edge, (nearly falling) and security right below, giving me the evil eye cause I bypassed his controlling issues.

All in all, a great night that reminded me of being at the Rivoli. Good venue, great bands, and pictures to boot :)

Many thanks to Stu, Luke, Andrew, Matt, Ryan, Darren, Dave Z, Chuck, Darrin, Melissa, Vanessa, Skye, Thom, Steve, and Sophie for having the night go the way it did :)
Rock On, and Enjoy!
